Simulation

Predicting the in-service behavior of a component offers the possibility of designing it with a high probability of success.

To this end, AMES offers its clients different simulation tools, which allow the component to be designed to the client’s specific needs and significantly reduce the number of product validation tests prior to putting it into operation:

SolidWorks® Simulation. It is a finite element software that simulates the stresses to which a component is subjected within the elastic field. It is mainly used to determine the material of a part and/or optimize its geometry to reduce stress, saving investment in prototypes.

Thermocalc®. It is a software that calculates the equilibrium phases of a material at different temperatures. It is used to design metallic materials at the minimum alloying cost.

TRIBUS®. This software created by AMES simulates the tribological behavior of a self-lubricated bearing in a system. It is used to predict the bearing behavior based on its working conditions, thus simplifying the bushing design process and eliminating the need for lengthy and expensive friction and wear testing.

Geodict®. This tool allows to vary the parameters related to a filtration process (type of fluid, flow, pressure, type, size and concentration of particles, maximum pressure loss, etc.), and obtain a result that is remarkably close to the actual filter behavior. It is mainly used to determine the appropriate filtration grade of the material.

PermeSint®. This software created by AMES simulates the evolution of a filter’s performance throughout its time in service. It is highly useful for calculating filtration systems at minimal cost and for predicting filter lifespan.

These tools are also used to offer additional services to customers, such as modifications management, applied engineering studies, or component co-design.

While simulation is invaluable for product design, validating the results through functional testing under real operating conditions is highly recommended.
